FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short answers. The detail lives on the pages each one links to.

The basics

Is eavantage SaaS?

No. eavantage is licensed, self-hosted software — one deployment per firm, running in infrastructure you control. There is no shared, vendor-run production instance. See Deployment.

Does eavantage make architecture decisions?

No. Everything the AI proposes is a candidate until a person with the authority approves it. Which gaps matter, which recommendations to act on, and when to sign off all stay with your team. SeeHow it works.

Can one deployment handle multiple clients?

Yes. One deployment serves all of a firm’s clients. Each end client is a separate tenant with its own isolated knowledge graph and document store — different clients are fully partitioned, enforced at the database-index level. Multiple engagements for the same client share that client’s graph, so knowledge carries forward from one engagement to the next.

The evaluation trial

How do I get a trial?

Ask us. Trials are approved case by case — there is no self-serve signup. Request a demo and say you’d like a trial; every request is reviewed individually before access is granted.

What is the trial, exactly?

A 15-day evaluation on a shared cloud instance we host. It is not a purchase or a commitment by either side. AI usage is capped for the period. A demo dataset is provided and is enough to evaluate the product.

Can we load our own data into the trial?

The platform does not stop you, but the terms do not require it — the demo dataset is sufficient. If you do upload real data, that is your decision and your risk, under the trial’s “as is” terms. We recommend against putting confidential client data on the shared trial instance.

What happens to trial data?

Everything in the trial — documents, engagement records, AI conversation history, generated outputs — is permanently deleted at the end of the 15-day window, or on earlier termination. Deletion is irreversible and there is no vendor copy, so keep your own records of anything you need.

Running it

What infrastructure do we need to provide?

Compute, storage, and network for a Docker Compose stack, plus a connection to a language-model provider. Specific sizing is in the deployment guide. SeeDeployment.

How are updates delivered?

Right now, personally. While eavantage has only a small number of customers, we prepare each release and work through the upgrade with you directly. Nothing updates on its own, and no client or engagement data is sent to us. Each release is a version-tagged bundle that upgrades in one packaged step: a short maintenance window in which an encrypted backup is taken first, database migrations are applied forward-only, the stack restarts, and a health check runs before it’s done — and if any step fails, the previous version is restored. Delivering releases through a self-service channel is planned as the customer base grows. SeeDeployment.

What happens if we stop licensing eavantage?

Nothing is deleted and you are never locked out of what you have built — your data never left your environment. A licensed deployment checks in with our licensing service about once a day; if the licence lapses, then after a seven-day grace period new engagements and new AI extraction pause, while existing engagements stay readable and every export keeps working. A lapse also ends future updates, our support, and a shared language-model key if you were using one. The specifics are set in the licence agreement. SeeLicensing andthe licence check.

Data and security

Does our client data leave our environment?

For a self-hosted deployment, no — with one exception: the AI features send business content to the language-model provider you choose (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Azure OpenAI), because they have to reason over it. Personal names are pseudonymised first. The evaluation trial is also an exception — it runs on our shared instance. Full detail on Security.

Can our clients see the work?

Yes — there is a client portal that gives the client’s team a handful of screens: contribute documents, see a capability heat map, and review deliverables and recommendations. It is the least developed part of eavantage today: the essentials are there, the surrounding flows are lighter than the rest of the product. See Capabilities.

Capabilities

What file formats can eavantage read?

PowerPoint, PDF, Excel, Visio, BPMN, draw.io, and ArchiMate XML.

Which EA tools can we export to?

eavantage exports the model one way to ArchiMate 3, LeanIX, Ardoq, and Sparx. It does not import from those tools or write back to them.

Can we adapt eavantage to our own EA method?

Yes. A Platform Administrator can disable, rename, or narrow eavantage’s built-in entity types and relationships, and define new ones for your firm’s own method — deployment-wide, or overlaid for a single engagement. A custom type goes through the same single-writer, approval-gated pipeline as a shipped one. Two things it doesn’t reach: the LeanIX/Ardoq/Sparx exporters and the gap and recommendation engines work with the core types only. SeeCapabilities.

Is everything in the product finished?

eavantage is functionally complete across the engagement lifecycle — every phase is supported end to end. Some areas are more mature than others: the client portal is the lightest part, and a handful of permission checks still fall back to a coarser role check.Security and Capabilitiesare candid about the specifics.

Commercial

How much does eavantage cost?

US$100 a month, per firm — not per seat, not per client engagement. Every domain pack is included. See Licensing for what that covers and what you pay your own suppliers for.

Is there a support SLA?

Not a formal one today. Support is handled personally. SeeLicensing.

If that’s you, the best next step is a walkthrough.

eavantage is licensed per firm — get in touch and we’ll talk through what that looks like for you. An evaluation trial is available on request.
